Best Concrete Finishes for Pool Surrounds and Entertaining Areas
Pool surrounds need to look great, stay cool underfoot, and grip well when wet. Here are the concrete finishes we recommend most often around South Coast pools.
Exposed Aggregate
The all-rounder. Excellent slip resistance, hides splashes and dirt, and looks great with both modern and traditional homes. Choose lighter aggregates to keep surface temperature down in summer.
Honed Concrete
A polished, refined look with a slightly textured finish. Beautiful for high-end entertaining areas. Pair with a slip-resistant sealer if used right at the pool edge.
Stencilled Concrete
Mimics pavers or tiles but with the durability of a single slab. Great for clients wanting a decorative pattern without the maintenance of real pavers.
Colour Matters
Avoid very dark colours around pools — they get hot. Lighter creams, sandstones and warm greys reflect heat and stay comfortable barefoot.
