How to Maintain Your Concrete Driveway for Maximum Lifespan

A well-laid concrete driveway can easily last 30+ years. A bit of simple maintenance keeps it looking close to new and prevents the small issues that turn into expensive repairs.
Clean It Twice a Year
Sweep regularly and give it a wash with a stiff broom and a mild detergent every six months. A pressure washer on a low setting is fine — keep the nozzle moving and avoid blasting joints.
Seal Every 3–5 Years
Sealing protects against oil stains, salt, UV fade and minor surface wear. Exposed aggregate especially benefits from a quality penetrating sealer every 3–5 years. We can re-seal during a scheduled visit.
Deal With Stains Quickly
Oil, rust and leaf tannins set in fast. Soak fresh oil up with cat litter, then clean with a degreaser. Don't leave damp leaves piled up over winter — they'll mark the surface.
Mind the Joints and Edges
Control joints are there to manage cracking. Keep them clear of weeds and re-caulk if they open up. Avoid heavy machinery on edges that weren't designed for vehicle loads.
When to Call a Concreter
Hairline cracks are normal. Wide cracks, lifting slabs, spalling or pooling water signal a deeper issue worth inspecting. We're happy to take a look and give honest advice.
